FAQ: Amazon World
Amazon World FAQ.
Design rule
This FAQ does not redefine terms. It explains system behaviour using them. This prevents contradiction, repetition, and System Drift.
01: Account Risk & Enforcement
Account Risk & Enforcement
Why did Amazon ask me for a POA if sales are still live?
Amazon enforcement is predictive, not reactive. A request for a POA (Plan of Action) means Amazon has identified a repeatable risk pattern, not necessarily a visible failure yet. Sales continuity does not equal trust continuity.
Why did Amazon reject my Plan of Action and what should I do differently?
Because Amazon is not validating fixes. It is validating system change. Corrective actions stop the current issue. Preventive measures determine whether Amazon believes it will happen again. If the root cause still exists structurally, the POA fails.
Why did Amazon suspend my account without warning?
It doesn't. Amazon warnings are usually metric drift, documentation requests, or soft suppressions that were interpreted as noise instead of signals. By the time suspension occurs, the account has already crossed an internal threshold.
02: Listings, Categories & Content
Listings, Categories & Content
Why is my Amazon listing suppressed if I didn't change anything?
Because suppression is often triggered by external changes, not seller edits. Common triggers include: browse node rule updates, new compliance expectations, category reclassification, and content policy reinterpretation. The system moved. The listing didn't adapt.
Why are infographics rejected when competitors use them?
Because enforcement is non-symmetrical. Amazon evaluates listings individually, not comparatively. Another listing passing does not validate compliance. Infographics are regulated assets, not creative space.
Do I own my ASIN if I created it or have Brand Registry?
No. ASINs are Amazon system assets. Brand Registry grants defensive tools, not ownership or veto power.
03: Ads, Visibility & Cost Pressure
Ads, Visibility & Cost Pressure
Why do ads feel mandatory now?
Because ads increasingly function as visibility rent, not acceleration. As organic space compresses and competition increases, paid placement becomes the default access path, not a growth lever.
Why is my Amazon ACoS low but my profit is still shrinking?
Because ACoS excludes the full cost stack. Advertising efficiency can improve while fees compound, organic sales are cannibalised, returns increase, and net margin erodes. This is the ad-driven margin illusion.
Did ads cause my organic ranking to drop?
Ads do not directly control organic ranking, but they reshape the visibility environment. Sponsored placements displace organic results, changing traffic composition and behaviour.
04: Resellers, Buy Box & Control
Resellers, Buy Box & Control
How do I remove unauthorised third-party sellers from my Amazon listing?
Because Amazon enforces marketplace rules, not brand intent. If a reseller operates within Amazon policy, authorisation status alone does not invalidate them.
Why don't MAP policies protect my pricing?
Because MAP controls advertising signals, not transaction prices. Amazon optimises for customer value perception, not brand pricing discipline.
Why did I lose the Amazon Buy Box and how do I get it back?
Because Buy Box is permission-based and dynamic. It responds to price competitiveness, fulfilment reliability, and account trust signals. It is never permanently owned.
05: Reporting & Perception
Reporting & Perception
Why do dashboards feel accurate but decisions still fail?
Because dashboards show reported reality, not system state. They lag events, simplify causality, and omit invisible pressures.
Why is my Amazon return rate suddenly high?
Because Amazon systems are threshold-based. Most signals are tolerated until a boundary is crossed, at which point enforcement is abrupt.
